Three Wildcats Named to CSC Academic All-District Team
LEXINGTON, Ky.– A trio of Kentucky men’s tennis players—Charlelie Cosnet, Matt Rankin, and Jaden Weekes—were recognized as members of the 2024-25 Academic All-District Men’s Tennis Team, as selected by College Sports Communicators. 2024-25 marks the second season in a row in which Cosnet and Weekes were honored, while Rankin received his first career Academic All-District nod.
Rankin—a native of Edinburgh, Scotland—was also selected as an Academic All-America finalist, advancing his name to a national ballot voted on by CSC members. The sophomore enjoyed a career year for the Cats, compiled a 21-9 singles record, including a 14-7 dual match record and 6-3 mark in SEC play. All of those marks were career bests, with Rankin finishing second on the team in overall win total and tied for second in dual match win total.
Weekes, now a two-time CSC Academic All-District Team member, finished the regular season ranked No. 78 in the ITA Singles Rankings. The junior from Montreal, Quebec, Canada led the team with 23 singles wins across 2024-25, including 14 wins in the dual season. Weekes earned three ranked singles victories and advanced from pre-qualifying to the Main Draw Round of 32 at the 2024 ITA All-American Championships last fall.
Cosnet—also a two-time CSC Academic All-District Team member—tallied thirteen singles wins, including four against ranked opponents, in 2024-25. The junior captain peaked at No. 79 in the ITA Singles Rankings and appeared in six iterations of the rankings. Cosnet also qualified for the Main Draw at the ITA All-American Championships in the fall, had back-to-back clinching victories to secure Kentucky’s perfect 14-0 record in home matches, and featured in the doubles lineup for the first time in his career.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District Men’s Tennis Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation’s top student athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists will be advanced to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 4, 2025.
