Kentucky Claims Methodical 6-1 Victory Over Northern Kentucky
It wasn’t the most explosive victory of the season but Kentucky won its fourth consecutive game on Tuesday night, defeating Northern Kentucky 6-1 in the final regular season game at Kentucky Proud Park.
The Wildcats (29-20) will finish their regular season at No. 9 Vanderbilt this Thursday through Saturday.
Kyuss Gargett had two hits and drove in a pair of important insurance runs in the eighth inning and Scott Rouse struck out seven in five innings to tie a season high as the Cats took care of a feisty Northern Kentucky club. James McCoy had a hit and then earned his team-best third save of the season.
Tyler Bell reached safely for the 21st consecutive game and 48th time in 49 career games with a clean single and fellow freshman Ryan Schwartz clubbed his first career home run. Bell also stole his 11th base to go along with Devin Burkes’ 12th and Luke Lawrence’s 10th.
